I would like to show everyone a project I have been working on for the last two years: the Xeyed custom race. The idea went way back to 2011, but never really came to fruition, and remained a an idea for a long time. In 2013, I began doing editor tests actively, and came up with the Scavengers (Xeyed workers) quite early on. The early development stage looked quite differant from today. The Scavengers Nest (Starting Building) was once a hatchery with a Spire top replacing the top of the hatchery, it was alot of fun making all these cool new things. The name, Xeyed, was inspired by a small online game I used to play called Spacecraft. The Xeyed were a cool looking zergish looking race, and I quickly decided to call my race xeyed. Soon after the Xeyedlings followed. Xeyedlings were once just smaller raoches. When HotS came out, I decided to change them to the Corpser Strain model.The Xeyed Den used to train units just like a barracks or gateway would. It remained that way well into HotS, but has since been changed to produce larvae like a hatchery would (But of course no larvae injects!) I eventually came to a head with the issue of supply. It used to be (In early development stages long before published) that all Xeyed structures provided supply and their was no specific supply structure. When I discovered some old zerg "Construction" models that I thought looked cool, I immediately took advantage of it and attached the model to a mini-sized spawning pool model. I liked the look so much I could not resist, and therefore made it the official supply building. There were a number of unit's I came up with early on that I scrapped, and took a lot of evolution to get to what we have now. I am fairly happy with my creation, and hope you are to. Enjoy! Tips: To play as Xeyed, set your Varient tab to "Xeyed" (Default is Xeyed), the race select becomes a UI selecter at that point. Research your upgrades at the Mutagen Chamber(Basic), Casnosalisk Den, the Biomass Cavern, Evolution Chamber(Advanced) and Sunken Warren (Top Teir) The Scavenger Nest(Starting building) can make workers 2 seconds faster! Don't forget to be actively creating workers! Feeding Pools(Supply) have a regeneration aura, put your army near to regenerate, but know that a feeding pool can only heal 2 at a time. Spore and Sunken Colonies(Basic) are excellent defence.
